Time for a paci? Need advice

Lach's latch isn't great.. he wont open wide so I've been putting off getting a paci. But he's using me as a pacifier and while I really don't mind, there are sometimes I am desperate. Like today!

Just now for the first time he took my pinky and fell sleep.

Even w/ latch issues, should I give a pacifier??

nak
I would wait, esp if he's having latch issues.

NAK... I've been trying to limit our paci use, so I rock, jiggle, walk or pat. Sometimes that works to soothe him before I need to resort to the paci...

I would DEFINATELY not introduce a paci at this point...especially given he's not latching correctly yet.

He's probably nursing so much because he's building up your supply (even comfort nursing stimulates your milk supply). The best way to ensure adequate supply/demand of your milk is to allow nursing on-demand...always. Especially with a young infant. I would definately not limit/substitute for your breast at this point.

*sigh* I know I know! I need to hear it over and over because I'm desperate! He won't let me put him down ever and my nipples are so sire on top if it all. My husband would like to hold off altogether on a pacifier, so at least he's supportive.

Yah, the "nipples-on-fire" sensation is sooooo not one of my favorites!!

My 11 mo old is currently teething/going through a growth spurt and she's been attached to the boob for about 3 days straight. It sucks. I just want to go a whole day without someone else touching my body. at all.

*sigh* Then I remember there IS a point to all this and I REALLY DO love nursing and am not ready to give it up yet (or for the next couple of years)!

It makes it so much easier when our DP's are on our side, doesn't it!!

Oh Gina. It's HARD! I think it will really help since your DH is supportive.

I so get the burning nipple thing. Hazel and Lucy nursed for an hour straight tonight before finally passing out and going to bed. (and they DO take a paci sometimes!)
