Causes of jaundice

My dd was basicly born jaundiced. The hospital did blood work but were not able to determine the reason why. None of the blood work they did showed why at least that they ever told me about. I do know that it wasnt blood type issues.

She did have massive brusing on her head from being pushed into my pubic bone and having the moniter screwed into her head combined with the vaccum It caused her optic nerve to swell almost costing her the mobility in her eye. Maybe that played a roll as well in the long term.

I was having liver issues myself, colestasis, could that have contributed to her jaundince?

My ds had the normal 3day old jaundice and I did not have issues with colestasis with him tho I was in the early stages of pre e.

Can anyone point me in the direction of what may have been the problem with dd??

this is complex and yes- bruising can be a cause- usually severe bruising and I wonder if the cholestasis contributed to the bruising by reducing clotting factors --- here is a web address that has a flow chart of info on non-physiologic jaundice of the newborn-- it lists tests and possible causes
