Bandl's Ring aka Retraction ring

Help!
I had a CBA4C this past August. And the OB who attended diagnosed me with a Bandl's ring. After 12 hours of labor with Pit I only got to 4 cm.. The top of my cervix would not efface. My OB said it was hard as nails.
I have search high and low or information regarding this "condition" and have not gotten anywhere. I was wanting to know if this is a permanent condition or not. If I get prego again and attempt a VBAC what are the chances it will reoccur? Any info or suggestions would be great. When I asked my OB these questions he shrugged his shoulders and replied "not sure". Thanks :

In Human Labor and Birth, Oxborn and Foote have a section on Constriction Rings vs Pathological Retraction Rings (Bandl's Ring) that I think might help you. There is a lot of information, too much to write here. Hope this helps.

Something to think about, was this an induced labor? I wouldn't necessarily take an induced labor as the standard of what to expect from my body.
