Look what I did!! My first time ever!

I made little sweater-pants! http://picasaweb.google.com/Carriebe...ongiesAndStuff

I'm SO happy with how easy this was! I'm going to attempt to make diaper covers w/ the body of the sweater. I'm going to try to felt it and see what happens. I *really* hope I don't shrink it because that would sort of suck. OTOH, at least I can find more wool sweaters at the thrift store.

One of the sweaters I found was made in Scotland and has a lovely argyle pattern on the front. I don't want to felt that, so I'm going to felt one side of the sweater I've already cut (the one the longies are made from) to see how it comes out.

Oh, the 3rd sweater I found is Merino! Woohoo! It's solid green, so pretty.

If you felt it, it will most definitely shrink. Thats what felting is, shrinks the fibers together and it wont be as stretchy. That being said, felted sweaters make bombproof soakers, just be sure to felt it before you cut out your soaker and give a little extra room to get it over the diaper .

Thanks for the info! So far so good. Some are bigger than others (diff sz sweaters), so we have some room to grow. The 2 I have that are too small are going to a friend in Houston.

I didn't get to cut up that fleece jacket. DH spotted it. It's his size so I went ahead and let him have it. And now I tease him for stealing the pants off his own baby.

Those are great. Do you have a pattern or a site with directions that you used? Or did you wing it? I have a few old sweaters I am thinking about cutting up...
