No bath for baby yet...

I just wanted to see if anyone else hasnt given their baby a bath. Cora will be 7 weeks and while I wipe her down with a washcloth, she has yet to get an actual bath. Its sooooo cold and it dries my babies skin out terribly. I cant believe still that there are moms that give baths everyday-now that is dedication.

Lachlan has not needed a bath, but he has been given some now. Even just warm water dries him out!! We started giving him baths to wake him up in the evening in hopes it would encourage a better night. Now it's morphed into a bath now and then with daddy or big brother as a bonding/fun thing.

Hazel and Lucy are 6 (almost 7) weeks and have had 3 baths. I usually do it Saturday night so they're clean for church on Sunday. It's way too much of an effort to bathe them both any more often than that right now.

Piper has had a few baths. I took one with her and found that she absolutely loves it! So, now I enjoy giving her baths once or twice a week.

Peri just had her 2nd one today because she STANK from all the spit-up. We are going crazy here trying to help her keep the milk down. I raised the head of the bed tonight with some thick books (we co-sleep) and we got her a pacifier at my lactation consultant's suggestion (I know, right?)

Her first one was over a week ago when my mom was here, in the little baby tub on the floor, and today was in the tub with me with one of those net insert things that puts the baby at an angle. She is not fond of baths, but doesn't HATE them like Pixie did, either. I rub her down with Burt's Bees apricot oil really well afterward and I try to remember to lotion her every day too so she doesn't dry out. She has one peeling spot on the bridge of her nose though and the tips of her fingers.

Okay, I feel dumb. So that's why Desmond is dry?

A couple of times I have taken him in the bath at night with me as a kind of bonding thing and DH watches Edgar. We both really enjoy it. I've heard nursing in the tub is really nice, but no way am I skilled enough to attempt anything like that.

Avery is 3 weeks 1 day and has had one bath. I rubbed her down with some aloe oil after. I heard the burts bees apricot oil is wonderful too. I think we will stick to a once a week schedule for now. She didn't love it.....:

i am NOT one of those bathe my kids every day kind of mom. i know most mainstream mama's shower every day themselves as well as bathe their kids religiously every day. i don't believe in that...i believe in our bodies natural oils and such and personally i love the smell of my kids and my own body. i don't want to smell like some product all the time of my life...

anyway, sheamas has now had about 4 or 5 baths. one in the hospital (i should have brought our shampoo/soap...they use johnson's) in the room which was nice...i could watch (i could not get up...extremely sore) and then once in our kitchen sink...he didn't like either of those times...then once w/ megh and i in our bath but i think the water was too cold and oh btw, i LOVE nursing my babies in a nice warm bath! they seem to enjoy it too. its very relaxing for both mama and baby. oh just make sure baby's towel is nearby when getting out and hold onto him or her as they get sooo slippery. that time i forgot sheamas' towel and megh wouldn't go get it for me so i was mighty frustrated when i got him out of there... brrrr! : then he's had 2 other baths w/ me. the last one was warmer and i filled it up w/ more water to immerse more of his body in it...he liked it more i think. after all, he's used to hot tub temp when in my womb so i'd think he'd be ok w/ my warmer baths.

i also love burts bees apricot oil. although sometimes i think it has a kitty pee smell to it. i use burts bees tear free shampoo bath stuff. i like it. it smells so good...and sometimes the lotion. i noticed sheamas gets real dry and seems to get more acne but maybe that isn't from bathing...anyway good to know it is the baths that are drying him out...i will lotion him up more after each one.

Caleb is five weeks and has had four baths. I use olive oil afterward and grease him down pretty well. I don't think most babies need to be bathed frequently unless they get stinky or have something (like the seb. dermatitis) that is helped by bathing.

I guess I'm one of a few here - Niklas gets a "half bath" every morning, just because he wakes up soaked every morning despite changing his diaper 3 times at night and using sposies at night, boy he's a supersoaker!
He gets a full bath every 3 days in a nice big tub with lots of water. He kicks and relaxes and just loves it. I have the heater on in the bathroom and wrap him up in a blanket after I dress him.
His skin is perfect, I only use a bit of Aveeno baby wash stuff and the Aveeno baby lotion after.

Fuzzi Buns double stuffed with Hemparoos work really well for super soakers at night!

Six-week-old Asher's had two baths and one shower. He HAAAAAATES baths. The only reason I've given them is huge monster blowout poops.

One thing that keeps him from drying out is a few capfuls of oil in the bath water--either olive oil or Burt's Bees apricot baby oil.

This morning, I needed a shower and didn't want to listen to Asher cry alone in the bouncy seat while I did it, so I put him in a mesh pouch I made and brought him with me. This has always worked well for my babies. They get really quiet and wide-eyed in the shower, whereas baths make them scream bloody murder. He seemed to really like it. I'm totally going to take him in the shower next time I can't get him to stop crying!

Elizabeth has had 2, maybe 3 baths. We're all prone to dry skin here. I was feeling badly about how few baths she's had so I posted about it a while back and no one else was bathing frequently so I felt better and haven't bathed her since! : I noticed last night that her hair was smelling kind of greasy but I'm scared to give her a bath by myself (baths are DHs thing) so we'll probably do one tomorrow night when he gets home. Elizabeth does NOT enjoy baths, so that's another reason to keeo them few and far between.

Libby is 4 weeks and not one bath! It just seems too cold and we are often going out now. We use wipes but that is about it. I keep thinking about giving baby a bath but I am not sure we are ready or her skin is yet. LOL

Django has had a few baths. He's been bathing with daddy every week or so. We did the first one because he had blood caked on his head from the birth and there seemed to be no other way to get it off. He was at least a week then. He really seems to enjoy it, and it's good bonding for him and DP.

I didn't let them use detergents on Lilly in the hospital after she was born. I did wash her hair with soap before we left though. She's only had one bath since we've been home. I have a baby bath tub that has a mesh sling with a pillow for newborns that worked wonderfully. I forgot to ask if I was cleared for baths at my last incision check, so I need to call today so I can take her in the tub with me since I need a soak desperately. The shower is ok, but too stimulating sometimes.

That, Aldria LOVES to get in the water and just float. I pull her in the tub with me and fill the water up so it's about nipple high on her, sit her in front of me and just let her hang out. She loves it.
