Southwest Airlines BFing policy - Page 2

If you really want something to take with you, why not email the company and explain that you are worried that you might feel your rights might be violated and ask them for a written statement to take with you in case issues arrise?

I flew southwest and nursed my then two year old and they were so incredibly accomadating on all 4 of our flights! on one instance Josh was screaming like crazy and stopped crying quite suddenly when I latched him on, the flight attendant rushed over- and when she saw us nursing she smiled sweetly and went on her way. I suppose she thought maybe I smothered him or something because his silence was so abrupt and was happy to see he was just nursing. I would be very comfortable flying southwest again with my nursling

I agree with the others about printing out your states bf laws but I don't think SW will give you any grief. They are just the most wonderful airline, imo, on so many levels.
Why don't you call their 800 customer service # and just ask where you can find their bf policy? They are always nice and accomodating. I'm sure if they have a policy they will either direct you to it online or mail you a printed copy.
Good luck!

In my own experience, Southwest has been wonderful. I have flown 5 roundtrips with Southwest and breastfed the entire time. When we flew with my little one in July, he was 16 months, and they asked if he would want to see the cockpit and meet the pilot, bc he was so excited getting on the plane (He loves planes) so we said that would be great, but when she came back DS was already nursing, and she said "Look at him, how cute, let him nurse as long as he needs to and we can show him the cockpit when we land" well DS basically bf the entire flight and slept in my arms, then when we landed, he got his cockpit tour that he loved.

Also on a sidenote, I work with my local perinatal coalition, and a few months back, we were planning a bf conference promoting community and back to work support w/ bf. So we were brainstorming companies that we knew of that had been supportive so we can invite and give an honorable mention. This was right after my flight I described above, so I mentioned SW airlines, and at first we were inviting them then it snowballed into even greater things! One of the woman on the committee spoke with the local airport and SW and our local town legislator, and we will now have a mother's room at the airport, the room has been donated by SW. This is not to promote bf in private at all, this is for moms and babies comfort, if anyone has ever been waiting for a delayed flight, you know how great a room like this would have been! The room has been designated, and there is a big bf symbol on the door, but we are just waiting to finish it up with everything else. We have donors donating all sorts of things like rocking chairs, changing tables, etc. The room will be officially opened in early 08. Once I have all deatils I will post more and the press release.

So to make a short story long, I love SW!
