my arms are going to fall off

I can't wear baby yet because my boobs are sore.

Oh wait that's another issue, actually one boob is sore, the other is just fine. Stupid booby on the left is killing me, such intense pain every time she latches on, like a thousand needles stabbing my nipple. Right side is only slightly uncomfortable, not enough to make me dread using it.

Anyhow- so I've been holding baby in my arms. WHenever she nurses on the left (painful side) My arms are so tense with pain and I have to hold my breast a certain way to lift it up so she can latch properly, and I'm afraid to let go while she's nursing because then the weight of the boob will pull it down and change her latch, so I spend half of all our nursing time in a strange arm contorted, tense position and now I have a terrible muscle pain issue in my back.

I can't lay down to nurse yet, the ONLY way I can bear to use that breast is in that strange, uncomfortable position.

Luckily, engorgement is gone.

I got some Lansinoh and began using that today let's see if it works. Anyhow- my arms are going to fall off because they hurt so badly. What to do??? Actually, tonight I brought her carseat in (I know, carseats are for the car...) and she's been in that almost all evening. I have been doing some stretching and I laid on the massage mattress thing (DH calls it a giant vibrator)

Any advice? Baby is 10 days old on the 12th

Muscles you're not used to using. It'll go away soon. I hope the nip issues resolve quickly. I remember feeling major relief after the first few weeks/fist growth spurt. I like to joke that his mouth got bigger :

Try side-laying to nurse or boppy/pillow propping, or football hold.

What kind of sling do you have? maybe something with one shoulder carry like a pouch would help for now. I have to say I liked side laying the most to nurse. I got the most rest!

I also was going to suggest the boppy or lots of pillows. Or a different latch.

I had issues with being super engorged after Dd was born which resulted in her not being able to latch on .....and me having raw painful nipples.. I would scream out in pain it hurt so bad. I got a nipple shield from a LC and it made it so Dd could get a perfect latch and it took the pain away and gave my nipples time to heal.I only had to use it for a few days and it really saved me.

I second a mountain of pillows or a Boppy.
