Dry, Damaged, Dyed, Curly Hair

there are so many products out there to use for my 3-D Curly Hair that I just don't know what to do as nothing I have tried has helped.

of course I have decided I have to stop dying it as it feels like a brillo pad now.

any suggestions as to how to naturally nurse my hair back to health. I would especially like to hear from people who have the same kind of hair who have had some success on getting their hair health again or keeping it health.

Hi!

I have hard-to-manage hair. It's very dry, thick, coarse, not curly but wavy and wild (think Diane Cannon). If I don't use the proper products my hair is OUT OF CONTROL!!!!

Years ago I spent the big bucks on Nexxus, Paul Mitchell and the like. They didn't do a thing for my hair so I gave up on the "only sold in salons" brands and stuck with your basic Suave, Finesse, Pantene, etc., etc.

About 2 mos ago I got my hair cut by a woman who had the exact hair type. I thought FINALLY someone who understands me! She turned me on to Bed Head. It's a really wonderful brand - not as cheap as Suave but not as expensive as Nexxus.
I spend $25 for two 32 oz bottles (that's on sale). Normally they are approx. $23-$25 each.

I love my hair again! My hair feels so soft now! The first few weeks I kept running my fingers through my hair because I couldn't believe this was MY HAIR!! Not to mention, I can actually run my finger through my hair. This would have been an impossible feat before.

I buy the Bed Head Moisture Maniac. I also put Luster's Pink Oil Lotion in my hair to calm the frizzies and weigh my hair down. This is a tricky product. If you buy it, use just a little at a time and work your way up to the amount that's best for you. If you start with too much, your hair will feel greasy and you'll think you just wasted your money. It's really good stuff though. I've used it for 8 yrs now and couldn't imagine my hair w/o it.

Hope this helps!

I might have to try that stuff Pukka,

I have crazy naturally curly/frizzy hair. I have been mixing Jojoba oil and Glycerine into my conditioner..it seems to help but this is my first week, but it feels so lovely and silky.

Pukka, thanks for the info - is the Luster's stuff also by Bed Head ? Because I didnt see it on the website that had the Bed Head stuff.

Glycerin and Jojoba Oil - maybe i will try that also.

Well I am really hoping to hear from more people.

Lately all I have been doing which does help keep the frizziness at bay is while it is soaking wet after it has been washed and conditioned I put coconut oil in it and let it dry naturally. It looks a bit greasy when it is dry but at least its not frizzy and it feels a bit softer then usual.

Before bed, I use Jason Anti-frizz Serum. I take the top off and pour about one teaspoon in my hand then work it into the ends first then the rest. I use a mild shampoo so it doesn't totally wash out, then slather on conditioner on the ends, leave it on for at least five minutes and rinse. It doesn't matter what shampoo or conditioner I use. The method is what makes the stuff work.

Hey fellow curly heads!

I found a great site with product reviews and a discussion board called
www.naturallycurly.com

Weve got some serious humidty about 2 months out of the year when we have monsoons. My hair has taken on its on entity. Im serious. Plus, I use Natural Instincts to cover gray, and that has taken its toll.

Ive been using REDKEN Fresh Curls shampoo, conditioner and Spin Control on my hair for a few months and love it! Lots more moisture and curl definition.
Just bought Kendra Intensive treatment yesterday to try on my hair as it was highly recommended on naturallycurly.....Ill let you know how it works.

Whats great about the boards is you can see what other people with your hair type use......they even have a swapping thread! to swap products!

I am actually considering getting thermal reconditioning......the new Japanese technique of permanently straightening hair. Its truly amazing, but Im not sure if I want to do it yet.......

I wouldn't use coconut oil, it can be drying after awhile. Jojoba is similar to the oils your hair secretes naturally.

I can never use those anti-frizz serums. They never work well for me. Either my hair is still frizzy or it is greasy. bleh. My mom loves them though.

I have super tight curly hair.
NO hair dryers. I put it up or braid in the am while wet.

Paul Mitchell Shampoo and then his leave in Conditioner rock!
