What's wrong with my toe?!

I woke up yesterday morning with pain in my big toe...mostly in the big joint. It hurts so badly to walk, and even when I'm just lying down. It's worse today.

I made the mistake of looking on webmd. Two of the possible conditions were gout and an aneurysm. I don't know if you remember that I was in the hospital the night before I gave birth because I had a blood clot in my leg. They were worried I could have a stroke, but it turned out to just be a superficial clot that we could treat with aspirin after I gave birth. Webmd said that aspirin can aggravate gout... So maybe that's it.

I probably need to call my midwife. I'm worried about bothering her about something silly...and I'm also worried about it being something serious again. I never went in for the doppler ultrasound test because the clot seemed to have gone away.

I don't want to have to be separated from my baby...or take him out anywhere yet.

Aren't I too young for gout?

My brother has gout...that's what I was thinking it might be too. He's only 32... Don't want to bum you out, though, until you go get it checked out.

ditto. but if i recall, you don't eat a really rich diet (red meat, cheese etc) and don't fall into the "typical" profile age/gender wise either but that doesn't mean it can't be it...Hmmm, what does your doc say? Hope you feel better soon!

Hope you feel better soon...so many worries post-partum, ugh! Hope your toe checks out just fine, its not silly to call your midwife!
