Finally...Henry's birth story!

Henry Tate was born 11/9/07 at 11 something am.

Henry's birth was quick and easy. Woke at 2 something and was restless, but not really cx. I power cleaned, wrote some letters, caught up on mail, etc. and by 4, I was cx. Finally woke Bill at 6, called my mother to come take Sam, and left for hosp around 8. Got settled in the tub by 930, labored comfortably for a bit, got feeling pushy, and climbed out (my choice due to paranoia about bleeding)...

I was complete, but the urge went away, so we hung out a bit, then suddenly (and wow...I cant emph how sudden it was) I HAD to push, and he was out in 2 pushes. I was scared to ask how much I tore as I pushed he straight without any real pauses to crown etc, one push for head, next for body....but, I was intact except for a small internal tear. Relief!!

I did bleed, and was not able to get him to latch (short cord, H wasn't cooperating) and I was given some pit, then miso (uhm, 8 pills in the butt isnt exactly a good feeling) and then had to get put on a pit drip for a while. We spent the night due to the bleeding, but my recovery has been sooo much easier than with Sam. I have had no soreness or swelling at all except for my butt thanks to the miso. Honestly, it felt like razors for a while.

But, all and all, a wonderful experience. Would have been better if I was at home, but I have no complaints as far as the birth!

A nice short sweet birth - glad that it went well. The miso doesn't sound like fun at all though.

congratulations, and what is miso? I thought it was a soup made with fermented soybean paste.

Its a drug (misoprostol) aka cytotek which is used to induce labor but also has an amazing ability to stop hemorrhages. I would certainly take it again to stop the bleeding, but ouch...location wise were they put it s*cks.

Yeah, I got a butt full of cytotec, too. Talk about adding insult to injury! Sounds like a great, straightforward birth!

I swear I'm still hurting!! It was far worse than the baby coming out. I still can't poop without pain...

Do you think the pain is from the miso itself creating a sore, or from the force of the insertion? Either way...OUCH!

Thanks for sharing your birth story!

I'm fairly sure its from the insertion, usually that is a one way road, KWIM? She was trying to be gentle, but, she did need to get 9 pills and I felt like she was deep in me.

Talk about feeling violated!
