I always understood it to be a chance to get away (just the two of you) before the baby is born. Most likely, first time parents.

Consciously spending some time with just the LO and your DP (and sometimes your other kids) just after the LO is born, getting to know each other and celebrate your new relationship.

At least, that's basically how I understand it.

The way it's used by, like, travel agents and in marketing, it's a trip to get away before the baby is born.
The way it's used by most of the mamas here on MDC, it's a period of time immediately following birth where the parents bond with the new baby. Often it involves limiting visitors and creating a safe bubble for the immediate family to focus on the baby and each other.

It's like a honeymoon, only after your baby comes instead! It's the time that you, your partner & other kids all, all fall fall fall madly in love with your new teeny perfect person.
