Cranial Sacral & Chiro for Latch Issues

We went to the chiro today to get Lachlan adjusted and do some cranial Sacral therapy on his face/head/neck for latch issues.

She said his back was tight in a few spots and when he yawns he thrusts his jaw to the side which isn't normal. I am in SO much pain, so I will try almost anything. Otherwise I don't know how I can keep feeding on the left.

I am hoping the adjustment helps him feel more comfy and open his mouth more. We'll go back for a follow-up next week.

Just wanted everyone to know it's an option!!!

LC suggested it for Peri too, and we ended up wanting to go anyway after the car wreck. She had her palate adjusted and her C4 the first time and the second time she had tortion (sp?) in her neck.
She is better at opening up wide now and not tongue-thrusting so badly, so hopefully it will help you too.

We had this done on Monday. I don't notice a difference in the latch, but we weren't having latch issues. He did have a few spots that needed some adjusting, he seems a lot less fussy... still gassy and spit ups a lot, but not as fussy about it.

Chiro care can help a lot with latch issues... making sure that the neck and the jaw and the bones of the head are clear can really help with latching on.

I'm a chiro and work with a loto of babies and moms and moms-to-be, so I know this from personal experience. Chiros listed on www.icpa4kids.org often have extra training with working with these types of issues.

Boy that makes three of us here!!!

yes, it does help often.. I can only imagine what a wreck my guys would be w/o chiro/cranial care... since they are far from easy with it!

Our midwife just recommended that we do some cranial sacral too. Rylan's latch on my left side is still painful. I hope it helps you and Lachlan-keep us posted!

Notice any improvement today, Gina?

We always take our babes to the chiro soon after birth. Hazel and Lucy went when they were 6 days old.

The simple use of Lanolin helped the right side somewhat but I believe the rest of the pain disappeared immediately. But the left was super sore from his jaw and still is quite painful from that hole (wish I could show you a pic, it's pretty gnarly!) and I have to take ibuprophen BUT methinks the adjustment HAS helped! If the hole would heal, I could be sure. Is it my imagination?? I don't think so, I think it really did help! Now heal, hole! HEAL!!!

I am blessed to have a good friend who is a physical therapist and does cranial sacral therapy -- she adjusted Noel earlier this week and his latch improved immediately. It was like magic. His whole body was just more relaxed and positioned better. My nipples, they are healing! Woo hoo!

We started today with a new chiro. Peri had 2 appts with the other chiro and then he referred us to this one... she has a specialty in pediatrics, which she said only 150 of ALL the chiropractors in the nation have, so I'm hopeful that she will help us.
Peri is still not opening very wide to latch and doesn't want to turn her head to the right. She got adjusted today and one of her arms had to be popped back into place. I was surprised the other chiro didn't notice all of the things that this one did!! He has an EXCELLENT reputation around here, esp in the birthing community.... but I guess either she had issues since last Friday or that pediatric specialty really helps.
She's miserable tonight though- VERY fussy Ugh.
