back home, finally. we were hoping to come back yesterday with an early discharge, but her bilirubin levels were SLIGHTLY elevated and thus we didn''t qualify for early discharge. i am gonna try to post pictures later. i think she's absolutely edible, of course. full head of black hair, pinky-brown skin color (which is kinda yellow-tinged since she's slightly jaundiced, but that's pretty normal), dark eyes, TOTALLY MUFFINOUS.
the birth (hospital birth w/midwife) went pretty well, absolutely no interventions or drugs or anything. it was just that it went so FAST and INTENSE. 14 hours from the ctx i posted about till birth. i was in transition for a while and then pushed for HOURS. i was pushing within 3 hours of getting to the hospital. HA. and i had been worried all pregnancy about going in too early. alex was an awesome (bradley trained) coach, i had the perfect doula, and my mom made it 2.5 hours before the baby came (she had to drive up from NJ). her apgars were 9 and 9, everything was done exactly as i wanted it, and since it was such a difficult birth and she was in the birth canal FOREVER we opted for a vitamin K shot. she's been a bit of a troublemaker with nursing - won't open wide & had latch issues. saw an LC & stuff's good now but i'm soooo sore due to the prior issues.
to be honest i'm still kind of overwhelmed from it all. i NEVER EVER thought she'd come on her freaking due date; i thought she'd be late for SURE. i also thought i'd be in labor for a while. and i definitely did not think i'd just START the more intense aspects of labor so quickly. my first contractions were 10 minutes apart and went to 5 minutes within hours, and it took me a while to understand that it really WAS labor because i thought it'd be more gradual. as for now i feel good, all things considered. 2nd degree tears - my skin would NOT stretch to let her out.
that's all for now.
