Self Checking

So I've finally been able to get in a position to check myself, however I don't really know what I'm feeling for. Can anyone give me some insight...

The cervix will probably be high and it may be posterior, but will likely move forward as you near labor. It feels smooth (unlike the vaginal folds which are kinda bumpy) and will probably be really soft (some ppl say like your lips, but mine feels more like the inside of my cheek)

As far as dilation, I'm a little less sure. I know that the cervix will thin (mine is still fairly thick) and 2 cm is about the width of a lima bean. Mine is still back far enough that I cannot feel the os (opening) so I have no idea how dilated I am.

Reach all the way back and feel for what may seem like a soft, squishy donut.

That's what mine feels like. It's starting to kind of melt into the rest of me and it's still posterior (I can only feel one edge-the other is up higher) and high.

I know what a cervix feels like from doing NFP......But I can't feel a cervix anymore at all. It is all just very, very squishy and flat. Is there a chance I am just not reaching up far enough?

Could be. Or you could be effacing. That's pretty much how mine is right now. I can kinda tell the edge, so yours sounds a bit more effaced than mine.

It could be that it is still very posterior and you can't reach it. Can you try feeling farther back up top and see if you feel anything?

See I can't feel anything besides squishy stuff. Maybe I can't reach up far enough to feel it yet....but I seriously would doubt that I am not dialated at all cause of all the contractions I've had and my past history.

supposedly mine is soft and dialated. But honestly I can't feel it. But maybe it's that I just don't recognize it-because I know that I felt it many times when TTC.

I think I need longer fingers.
