I was watching my 5mo niece this afternoon. I have a 6m old & 2.5yo of my own - both nursing. My older daughter was looking at my niece and we had the following exchange:
DD: does she [niece] nurse?
Me: no, her mama chose to feed her milk from a bottle instead
DD: why?
Me: some mamas choose to use bottles
DD: <pause> does she have boobs?
Me: maddie's mama?
DD: yes
me: yes she has boobs
dd: then who does she nurse?
me: she doesn't nurse anyone, she just feeds her baby milk from a bottle...
i just like that once we established that the mama had boobs, we had to figure out who she was nursing, if not her baby...

To her it is simple, you have boobs and so therefore you can feed a baby. May she always have such ultimate confidence, especially when it's her turn!

she offered to nurse her younger sister, but i had to decline.
