nursing is norrmal to my toddler!

I was watching my 5mo niece this afternoon. I have a 6m old & 2.5yo of my own - both nursing. My older daughter was looking at my niece and we had the following exchange:

DD: does she [niece] nurse?
Me: no, her mama chose to feed her milk from a bottle instead
DD: why?
Me: some mamas choose to use bottles
DD: <pause> does she have boobs?
Me: maddie's mama?
DD: yes
me: yes she has boobs
dd: then who does she nurse?
me: she doesn't nurse anyone, she just feeds her baby milk from a bottle...

i just like that once we established that the mama had boobs, we had to figure out who she was nursing, if not her baby...

I had a good chuckle over this one To her it is simple, you have boobs and so therefore you can feed a baby. May she always have such ultimate confidence, especially when it's her turn!

Cute, my ds also 2 and still nursing, has been on a kick asking me to nurse his baby (one of his dolls) and his baby bear (who wears cloth diapers- he asked me to make one for it!)... I swear if I am not bf-ing him or his sister I am bf-ing the doll or the stuffed bear!!! LOL- How awesome is that!

My 14 month old does this. She makes sure all her stuffed animals have sufficiently nursed before she'll have some. Cute but a pain considering the number of stuffed animals she's got.

it was so funny, he would say he was going to "nurt my truck" and put the front of the truck to his chest at age 2.

Hilarious! My son will tell me in the morning, "Baby wake up, she need a boob mommy." I guess I'll know I'm there when he asks me to nurse his Lightning McQueen.....

thanks for sharing all of your stories. they are too cute!

dd asks her dad to nurse her stuffed animals and dolls. she offered to nurse her younger sister, but i had to decline.
