Christmas Conceptions - Early Jan Testers

So I thought I would start a thread for those of us coming out of the 2WW mid-Dec POASers and anyone else jumping in at this point. It might also be good to help deal with the stresses of Oing right around the holidays and having to find places to DTD when you might not be at home.

I'm CD 5 today and FF predicts I'll O on Christmas Eve with a projected test date of Jan. 6 or so. Who's with me? I know a bunch of you got AF this past weekend, too.

I've never started a thread before, but I hope this one will be as active and supportive as last month's.

on X-mas eggies!

I'm not sure if I'll be in this date range but I'll be checking on all of you. I might be mid-Jan, not really sure what's going on. 1/6 was my mom's birthday.

So here's a toast to holiday eggs!

You're welcome to hang around -- I have a loose definition of early Jan (like first half?). Though I'm hoping you're still going to get your BFP this month, despite evidence to the contrary.

Hey Sarah, we're TTC neighbors! I'm in Santa Clara.

My DH keeps track for me; I just tell him about my CM and any ferns I have. So according to him, Christmas is an optimal time for us!

Here's some for us all!!

Good luck to you two! That's great that he's so involved. It kind of works the opposite with us -- I keep him abreast of what's going on and show him my chart and we figure out the good timing.

Sending down the bay!

Well, my temp went down a little today and my CM is pink-tinged so I do believe AF is on her way. That would mean I should probably O sometime between Christmas and New Year's (glad it's not earlier since we're going to DH's grandparents'... and they have separate bedrooms with twin beds - not because of strictness, but because, well, that's all there is). So HOPEFULLY I'd be testing sometime in the beginning of January, like... the 14th

i am glad you started this! the ladies with long cycles are just killing ourselves with the wait (at least i am!) I should o around christmas and be able to test the 2nd week of january. I feel babies in the air for everyone! this is cycle 4 month 5ish and i'm really wishing and waiting for my body to show me some signs!! good luck ladies happy BD!

PS will you show me how to put a link for your chart in your sig?

Welcome kriket!

To put your chart in your siggy: go to UserCP and edit sig. Then insert link using the globe with linky button at the top. Then find the chart picture from the smilies chart. The link to FF and the smiley code will all be within the URL code. It will make sense, I think, once you start doing it.

Oh, and I just noticed you're from Dayton(ish). DH is from Centerville. We end up there every other year or so for x-mas; not this year, though.

Thanks for starting the new thread. I have been waiting for a new place to belong I am on CD 8 with anticipated O on the 20th. Good luck to all.

Well, I'm on CD1 and so I'm grumpy today knowing that the last cycle wasn't the one! This is my fourth month TTC this time. I'm starting to wonder if there is anything I can do to increase my chances. I'd really like to be pregnant before I turn 35 next month. Not that I think it's a big deal or that everything will suddenly change, but it seems to be a psychological barrier for me. My mother went through menopause at 35! I really want to have at least two more children. I got pregnant very quickly with the first two--two cycles.

For the first two cycles this time I didn't do anything except know that my cycle is 28 days and DTD from CD10 to CD16. Last cycle I bought some OPK's and got a positive on C14 (which is when I had been assuming that I O.) My mistake was that I didn't test the next day. I guess I could get a couple days of positives and I might O later than I thought. So this cycle I will use OPK's again starting at CD12 and continue to use them until I get a negative after a positive. We'll DTD CD10 to CD16 or two days past the OPK positives.

What else can I do to increase my chances of getting pregnant? Herbs? Preseed? Does this stuff really help? I'm under upper cervical chiropractic care, take good nutritional supplements, eat healthy, rest almost enough, and stay active which helps everything else in my body work better. What other natural things can I do? I'm really anxious now! (Like everyone else, right?)

I just ready TCOYF and it is very good. I highly recommend reading it. Temping is a good way to see if/when you O'd. Cervical fluid is the best way to predict when you are fertile and when you are about to O. Egg white CF being the most fertile. The book explains so many things. Anyway, I found it interesting. Hope that helps.

I agree, though I haven't actually read the whole book, just parts sitting in the bookstore. I always thought I was perfectly regular, I always have 26 to 29 day cycles, but it turns out that I don't O until CD 17 or 19 and then have a 9 -10 day LP. Thus, we are on cycle #9 of TTC and I'm only 27. I wouldn't have known that without charting. So I'm taking Vitex and B6 and Red Raspberry Leaf Tea to help it, though it hasn't gotten longer yet, but it's supposed to take 3 months apparently.

Personally, my CM is not very telling simply because there isn't much there (EPO and grapefruit juice for that + Preseed since we need stuff anyway and it's supposed to help by giving the sperm something to swim in in addition to making sex more enjoyable -- it really is great lube.)

I can't tell you if this all really works yet. I've only been doing to herbs for 2 months and the Preseed one month. I've been temping for 6 months now and I think we've gotten fertilization twice but my short LP prevented implantation (I think that's a chemical pregnancy? maybe not) and I never got an actual BFP.

This is what I've learned so far on these boards. I hope it helps.

Yay!!!! this is fun!!! I just started my 1st AF since my m/c in early nov. It sarted yesterday so I guess I am on day 2 now. If this cycle is normal We will be TTC Christmas day. What is Vitex? What is EPO? And what's the name of the book? I'm really new to this! I'm not positive I want to commit to charting. Does it really give me more info that I need. I'm really obsessive. I'm afraid I'll get more depressed thinking about this all the time instead of just depressed for a few days when it becomes obvious I'm not pregnant. If know when I ovulate based on OPKs and when I'm pregnant with an HPT, then what else do I need to know? I'm not trying to be sarcastic--I really want to know.

For me, I like charting because I don't like buying things, so no OPKs and no HPTs unless I'm definitely late. All you have to have is a Basal thermometer and paper or an online chart. I've been doing it for a while now, so I don't think about my temp beyond registering it in the computer each morning. I like the regular monitoring of what is going on. If you don't need that, then you don't have to temp. I also like the warning that AF is about to show.

Vitex is vitex agnus castus which is the berry from the chasteberry tree. It regularizes hormones by working on the thyroid, I think. It doesn't promote one hormone over another, it just balances things out if there is an imbalance.

EPO is Evening Primrose Oil. It has Omega-3s, is plant based, but can interfere with implantation so is only taken up to ovulation. It help if you have low amounts of Cervical Mucus (CM). I'm pretty sure I'm seeing results with that.

The book is Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler. She wrote the book on charting and how to interpret things. http://www.amazon.com/Taking-Charge-...7591861&sr=8-1

However, if you know you get obsessive about things, then don't worry about it. You don't have to do any of it. I didn't start even charting until we'd been trying 3 months and then I started taking stuff after 6 months once I saw the pattern in the charts.

I'm glad you'll be joining us! I'm sorry for your loss.

I'm so happy this thread is taking off!!
I'll join in - I should O on the 24th or 25th. Here's hoping for a Christmas baby!
I should O on or around Christmas as well so I'm in! Stress may delay it a bit but I sure hope not.
I'm hoping to be testing in early January!

I just had my first PPAF the beginning of the month and I'm on cd11 now. Based on my pre-DD cycles, I should be ovulating around the 22nd or so.

Now, I'm just hoping that fertility continues and I ovulate!

Good luck to all of us!

I'll join.
I'm sitting at CD6 right now. I think I will be O'ing on the 22/23. Since I am temping this month, I would really like to wait for 18 high temps before buying any HPTs. I have 1 test leftover from last cycle so I will probably use that on CD28. I am sure this month will fly by, being Chrismas and all. I just hope I actually O on the 22/23 because after that it will be REALLY tricky doing so as we are going to my mom's house and you can hear everything there. I have never tried to DTD there before simply out of respect for thin walls. I hope I O before then, seriously.

I'm feeling positive in general, about temping and all. This is my third month TTC. I hope this is it. I would like to concieve by my cycle in February so I have a fall baby. I hope it works out that way.
