This is going to be way, way TMI but i need advice

OK so last night we DTD, I was willing, it sucked, but I felt up to it (as in more than feeling bad for Hubby). This is somewhat surprising as sleep is usually the #1 priority after baby boy has gone to sleep. This afternoon I noticed some definite eggwhite quality cervical mucus. ARRRGH!!!!! WTF!!!!!! I haven't gone more than 5 hours without nursing this baby since the first time I nursed him. How in the hell can I be ovulationg 4 weeks postpartum. i actually told my DH we had to go to the drug store for plan B as this is NOT the time to get pregnant again. Then I realised that it would probably dry up my milk and one of the main reasons for not wanting to be pregnant is to not deprive my brand new baby of my milk. Please tell me this isn't happening. My poor DH thinks we are never having sex again.

When I went back for a check up at 8 weeks with my first DD.....I was pregnant. It can happen so do whatever you would normally do to prevent it if thats what you want. I though they were joking when they told me. I had no clue that I was ovulating.

Could the egg whitey stuff be, um, man juice?

Next-day semen is VERY similar to EWCM. I would not panic yet.

it could be, also and this occurred to me a few minutes ago, I've had to cut out dairy as DS doesnt tolerate it well and I am VERY sensative to the plant estrogen in soy and have been using a sy based creamer for my coffee. So it could be either one though I totally panicked earlier.

"man juice".

Related story- not to scare you but I like the story: Back in the 50's my grandmother went in for her 6-week postnatal checkup after having my uncle. Here is the conversation that transpired:

Doctor: "so, it looks like this is also your PREnatal checkup!"
Nana: "what? No, I had the baby already."
Doctor: "well, you are having another."

My grandmother goes home and had this conversation with grampy:

Nana: "Rich, we are having a baby."
Grampy: "No, we had him- he is right there!"
My grandmother swears she has no idea how she conceived. She says "All I know about sex is that it is 30 seconds of NOTHING!" haha!

I would not worry. I bet it is man juice too.

Those stories above are the exact reason DH and I have used protection every single time since I gave birth.
I am sure everything is ok, but what a good reminder to all of us that breastfeeding alone is not a way of protection.

Like PP says---It is most likely his 'man juice.'

Good story, Kerri!!

This is from the FAQ on fertility friend. I hope this helps your anxiety...

<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<Ho w can I tell the difference between fertile cervical fluid and semen?
<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
If you find that you have more watery or eggwhite days than you would expect and that these often follow days or nights that you had intercourse, then you may be mistaking seminal and cervical fluid. They have similar properties because they share the same function: transporting and nourishing sperm. You will find, however, that fertile cervical fluid (eggwhite) is more clear and stretchy and shiny. It will stretch a couple of inches without breaking. Semen may be more whitish and is more likely to break when pulled.

If you are in doubt and it is near your fertile time, always record eggwhite cervical fluid, even if it may be obscured by seminal fluid. This way, you will not miss a potentially fertile time. Emitting semen immediately after intercourse by doing kegel exercises (which is sometimes recommended for people who are charting to avoid pregnancy so that cervical fluid is not obscured) is not recommended when you are trying to conceive. While most sperm reach their destination within your reproductive tract quite quickly after intercourse, you don't want to sacrifice your chances of conception to have a perfect chart.

How did you get coffee creamer there? Or do I want to know?

It sounds to me like it is "man juice" as well...and for your sake I really hope that it is.

DH is anxious to DTD and this is precisely the reason I'm saying no. We haven't made a decision about protection yet.

I was just looking at my copy of Taking Charge of Your Fertility in the LAM section and it mentioned that many times women have patches of egg white CM for a few months without actually ovulating. It's sort of the body's way of gearing up after being sidelined for so long.

So it is possible that it was EWCM and not man juice () and you'd still be ok.

Hope things work out ok!
