Felting Wool

DH suggested using wool army blankets to make covers... anyone ever done this??
~*~And~*~ I was thinking about felting it and washing and drying with those dryer balls with all the little noudles on them. Think that would work??

I would only do it if the blankets were soft to begin with. I don't really remember how soft they are. It's been years since I've even seen one.

I tried to talk my Aunt out of hers, but she wouldn't give it up.

My only concern is that they may be too scratchy.
