Melissa and Doug Barn

Hey Mamas!!

Does anyone have the Melissa and Doug barn? I was really trying to stay away from M&D, but Liam LOVES this barn. We go to the library and thats all he wants to do...play with their barn! I had one gift fall through (dont order from Lillian Vernon, they stink!!!) and so I thought this would be a good replacement. How well do you like your barn? Has it held up well?

My boys got it as a gift last xmas and they were a tad bit old for it (4.5). I think it's for kids 2-4 and maybe older. It's held up well. Make sure you save the instructions on how to put it together. My only complaint is that it comes in a really nice separated box that does not have a lid! So I had to buy a different container to put the pieces in and chuck the box.

Ohhhh! The one I saw was at a kiosk in the mall and they just had it wrapped in cellophane. There is no box with it and its all together! Did you order yours online? Its 49.99 at this kiosk and of course there is the bonus of not paying shipping, although I did see it today at www.countrytoys.com for $39.99 w/ free shipping but they are out of stock! It must be a popular toy this year.

we have the one that's all together. DS#1 got it for xmas when he was 2 and it's held up really, really well! he's almost 5. He still uses it to play with his star wars guys on and DS#2 is really into playing with it too. I'd recommend it.

We have the M&D Dollhouse and my ds (4) still plays with it occasionally and younger ds (14 mos) is obsessed with opening it up and moving things around, and ds' other friends (3-4 yrs old) also play with it quite a bit when they visit. My ds saw the barn once in a store and begged and pleaded for me to buy it, but we have another farm setup and certainly don't need duplicates of somethign like that. So I'd say both the barn and dollhouse have a fair amount of play value from what I've seen.

DS got it for xmas last yr and loves it. My 2 complaints are that it doesn't have a latch to keep is closed and his little hands cant hold both handles. Also, the animals it came with are horrible plastic, smelly things. I got a set from Three Sisters that fit pretty well.

We have it-- one of my dd's got it for a birthday a few months ago, and it seems to get a good bit of play and is holding up well.

We just bought this one today at Giggles (a local toy store) for my daugher who is 22 months old. We bought her a few horses seperately. The M&D horses they had were velvet/felt covered. Something I don't feel would hold up to a toddler.

Just curious, why were you wanting to stay away from M&D?

If there is an ACMoore near you, you might be able to use their weekly 40% off coupon to purchase this. My local store always has the barn instock, and they rarely have M&D on sale, so the coupon will work.

You can print the coupon at home, it doesn't have to come from the flyer. Just goggle "ACMoore weekly coupon".

I'm not the OP, but probably because its MIC. We are trying to avoid them also for that reason.

Thats exactly it. I'm just trying to be more aware of what we buy and where we buy it from!

This sounds like a good buy! Thanks Moms!
