Does anyone else have no interest in cleaning?

Thread Starter
I was reading the "to do" thread, and it seems as though everyone is scrubbing their houses top to bottom. I have zero interest in even remotely thinking about cleaning. My DP is nesting, and had us up until 1AM the other night dusting and vacumming, but other than that, I'm happy to babymoon in our current state of dust and dog hair and dirty bathroom tile grout.

Anyone else lacking the nesting impulse?

I'm nesting fine. I just happen to hate cleaning. The other night I HAD TO put my supply kit together in one place, get out the snuggle nest, and check my lists and labels and see what I had left "to do." Yesterday and today I keep thinking of DIY projects the MUST get done right nownownownownownownwonwonwow for no good reason. Really, that pillow case has been left unfinished for 2.5 years. I don't really need to get it finished now, but I NEED TO get it finished NOW!!! I also need iron-on letters for a shirt I want to make. So lots of stuff and projects, but screw cleaning!

My house is pretty much always clean. I am neurotic about keeping it tidy, and we don't have much/any clutter. I usually pick up for about 20 minutes every night and it looks great. My kitchen floors could use a good scrubbing, but I need DH here to do that, or else my kids will make little footprints in the soapy water on the floor.

Right now all of my nesting impulses are being forced onto my DH who, as usual, put everything off until the last second and now has to make 7 wooden bowls for Christmas presents, finish making the boys' kitchen for Christmas, paint our bedroom, and touching up on some trim paint. Meanwhile, I already have our birth pool set up, the apple butter I'm giving as Christmas presents was done months ago, and I am just waiting for some stuff to come in the mail for the birth.

I've had a couple of spurts of cleaning, but anything that requires me to get on my hands and knees is a big Hell no! I try, I tend to rearrange stuff, but don't actually clean anything.

I have cleaning on my to do list because the place is the worst it's been since we moved in 6 months ago, but that doesn't mean I'm interested in it! Which is probably why it's been on the to do list for the last month and I still haven't tackled any of it yet.

I was really into cleaning and organizing about a month ago, now I'm not doing much except staying on top of laundry, etc. Well that's not entirely true, last Saturday I completely re-organized all the kitchen cabinets. (Mainly because after the birth, I want others to be able to find things in the kitchen without having to ask me where they are!)

I have no interest in cleaning-zero, nada, nothing! DP is doing alot of it though. Mainly I am so tired when I come home from work that I just want to go to sleep.

Only dusting. For some reason I've become obsessive about the first sign of dust, which is really annoying since it only seems to take two or three days to collect around here.

Floors, bathrooms, windows....I just have dreams of someone secretly sending a maid in the middle of the night and me waking up with all these things clean. I'm too tired and awkward at this point to bother with any of these.

I'm cleaning and organizing but I have no real interest in doing it. I do have an interest in not being surrounded by clutter once the baby comes, but ugh finding the motivation to actually take action on this stuff is really tough. I had grand visions of starting bright and early this morning and kicking butt all day with little nap breaks in between, yet I just finished breakfast and am already ready for breakfast #2 and would much rather just lay on the couch and read one of the books I bought. I feel like I'm doing stuff more because I know they should be done rather than an instictive nesting need. I feel like my nesting urge is coming in the form of wanting to keep the curtains all drawn and lounge around with the dog and cat and just shut out the outside world.

Not really interested in it. Once in awhile I will scrub the toilet at 1am or something. But all my big cleaning was done a month ago or something. My stupid carpet cleaner broke and I can't afford another, either. So I'm a little p!$$ed about that and can't clean carpets.

I am more on a cooking and knitting kick.

This is what I feel too, which is probably why some of the "big" things haven't been done yet (though thought about). Minus the dog.

My mom's coming on the 21st, and she told me not to clean the floors because she wants to do it I'm happy to oblige. That sounds like the worst idea ever, getting down on my hands and knees to scrub tile!

I am forcing myself to keep the kitchen somewhat ungrimy, and that's about it. Oh, and laundry. The things I actually do: origami and computer games. The dirtiness of the apartment is driving me crazy, but every time I start to clean, I get overwhelmed and give up.

I HATE to clean! I have no excuse. I just hate it. I don't mind organizing, but I hate cleaning, so... I have a cleaning lady come every other week to do just the kitchen and bathroom. I can handle occasionally vacuuming and dusting the rest of the house, but I only do it when it gets really bad.

Plus, the clutter and stacks of paper are completely out of control, as usual. I have no idea how to escape this, but that's what I'm concentrating trying to get a handle on right now. My energy's been great this pg, but has suddenly dropped this week. I'm very sleepy now...

I go back and forth. I definitely have the urge but that doesn't mean it always gets done.

I'm leaving all of my deep cleaning nesting for labor.

Hahaha! Oh, I wish.

I was just talking to DH about this last night. I am not a cleaner. It takes a while for me to even notice something should be cleaned and then I usually do a pretty half-assed job anyway.

I want to clean the tub for labor, like really clean it which I haven't done at all since we moved in but it's more really more like I want fairies to come and make it magically clean.

yeah, i'm more interested in projects than cleaning (like usual). for example, right now i'm sitting down to print out addresses on holiday/announcement envelopes instead of cleaning/organizing something.

unfortunately DH has little interest in either, though he's been improving a bit.

i enjoy a clean house a lot, but there are so many other good things to do. i am cleaner than i used to be. w/ DD #1 my idea i dusted off a couple of house plant leaves the day i went into labor, that was about it!

Hate to clean, worse now than ever. DH is pretty awesome about it, doing all the dishes, vacuuming, laundry, etc. I really haven't had that nesting urge at all. Kind of hoping that happens soon-ish.

Man, I would kill to have DP get into the cleaning! He is as oblivious as oblivious can be to a dirty house. I'll even go on "silent strike" for a week and it accomplishes NOTHING but a ginormous mountain of laundry and dishes like nobody's business. He's a great cook but the man is not a cleaner.
