blood sugar levels

My midwife gave me a glucometer to check my levels for a few days. I am to take a reading in the morning, eat a sweet breakfast, go for a walk, and test again within 2 hours of breakfast. I don't remember what she said good levels would be, and now I'm curious. What number range do I want to be in? THanks,
anne

It depends. This isn't a protocol for BS check that I'm familiar with. I think the idea is to simulate, more or less, the glucola screening, in which case you want your 1-hour to be below 140 (in our lab, YMMV). When GDM moms check their sugars two hours after eating, what we want is less than 125.

At any rate, your fasting BS should be below 105 at the very most, and preferably below 95.
