Going crazy waiting for friend to call

Just a frivolous post to say that my friend is in labor (I think), and I'm posting here so that I don't call her!

She'd been having sort of painful braxton-hicks (or maybe the real thing, but mellow, early labor) all day long yesterday and been nesting like crazy. But her due date isn't until the 23rd (this is her first baby).

Anyway, I went over at 8:00pm, and was there until 11:30 (massaging, cleaning the birth tub, etc...). During that time, it seemed like the ctx were getting more intense--she stopped talking to me during them, and then towards the end was starting to moan a little during them.

So I went home at 11:30pm, and told them I wouldn't call until they called me ('cause the phone drove me BATTY during my dd's birth), but NOW I AM GOING INSANE! They invited me to be there at the birth (and I told them, I'd LOVE to be there, but only call if it feels right, 'cause I don't want them to feel crowded).

Now it's 10:30am here and they haven't called yet--I called her dad's house (which is 5 houses down from them) and he's not home. I called her dad's work, and nobody's there.

ACK! I'm going crazy--I don't even know if she's really in labor or not...I'm assuming that she is, otherwise she would have called to tell me that nope, things slowed down again.

Anyway, nothing I can do...just wanted to "talk" to SOMEONE!!!! (and have you ladies stop me from walking over there and peeking in the windows...unless you think it might be okay to just take some nice, homemade zucchini bread by...and then leave again right away...I know I really just need to leave them alone, right?...)

We thought that my son was going to be born a couple weeks ago....all the signs were there but the contractions ended up not progressing and it is DRIVING ME CRAZY how ever since then the phone has been ringing off the hook with people asking whether I had the baby yet. Today I just turned off my cell phone because I'm sick of talking about my "labor signs." And I'm not due til Sunday! So a friend like you is MUCH appreciated, believe me.

HOORAY!!! It's a BOY 7lbs 1oz (after pooping out tons of meconium). After much pacing and pacing I managed to hold out until they called me at 2:00 or so, and he was born at 4:23pm today.*Whew* that was a hard wait for me!!! BUT I GOT TO BE THERE when he was born. I feel SO lucky to be invited in for such an amazing time. W.O.W.

waiting2bemommy--thanks for the reply. I *knew* it was worth it to not call and bug them (from remembering my labor), but sure was hard to do even still! I hope that your labor comes up soon and goes smoothly . It's pretty amazing to meet that little being in your belly face-to-face! (Duh, like I need to tell you this). After my friend pushed her baby's head out, the rest of him slid right out and she was so surprised that she just kept saying "Holy MACK! Holy MACK!" Pretty funny. She was expecting to have to push his shoulders out too because that's what I had to do with my dd--she was a huge help to me during my labor. Anyway, good luck to you!!!

I hope one of my pregnant friends will want me to attend their birth...well their babies birth, I love being there. Such an overwhelming feeling. I have photos of myself at 13 years old in the ER with my mom (she had my brother within 20 minutes of arriving at the hospital, no time for L&D) all rosy cheeked and blissed out, and it wasn't even my birth! And today is his 8th birthday

Lucky you!!
