Damn. BP is up

I've had zero sleep, ate REALLY salty masala late last night and have been beyond stressed for a week. BUt still, my BP shouldn't be 123/82 when my typical BP is 105/70. :

Put me on the supplement train. And please send calming bp vibes.

Doesn't wine help lower BP? Can you take a bath and drink a glass of wine (maybe no right this second, but tonight even)?

I wouldn't be super concerned about it...

just try to relax and if you can get the chance try laying on your left side. Then check and see if it's gone back down to what your normal range is. 140/90 is only the beginning of "concern" in general from the training that I've received... so just relax it for now and I'm sure you'll be fine. You're one tough mama- BP doesn't stand a chance against you!

awww, sucky. this happened to me towards the end, too -- i have normally really low blood pressure and went in for my 39w or 40w and it had spiked a little. but you know, it's very normal, and nothing to be concerned about especially since for most people, that's their "normal" BP.

take care of you and don't be too hard on yourself.

This is something I've been concerned about too. Lately my BP has seemed so much higher than usual, in the same range that you mentioned, like 126/82. But my mw has been gentle on me (I've been harder on myself about it), and says it's fine. I guess it hasn't changed that much since the middle of pregnancy, when it was generally around 115/72. I just really want a homebirth!

i would be worried at this point either. But if you are concerned. Start eating lots of garlic. it will help. or take capsules if you cant stomach the garlic.

also cucumbers, at least one a day, will help lower BP.

and 3tsp of cream of tartar in a glass of water will lower BP quickly.

(now i want garlic )

my mw suggested garlic too. I really need to get started on that. I'm so bad about putting things off!

I believe BP normally rises a bit at the end of pregnancy due to increased blood volume. Mine was a little higher at the last two appointments but not high enough for anyone to worry.

Thanks for the support. I love this DDC. I totally believe it's the sleep deprivation and a magesium deficiency. I stopped taking my cal/mag a while back because I didn't feel well taking it. Now I'm taking straight Mag and after a nap I felt a ton better. Of course, it's 2am now and I'm wide awake, but hey, I got in a good 2 hours. Hopefully I'll be able to get back to sleep after a quick nosh. Tomorrow it's back to some garlic and other tinctures.

Thanks again :

I'm glad you're feeling a little better. How's your protein intake, too?

I know that my BP is super sensitive to stress/fatigue, etc. I got so anxious about it that I started having my Mom check it in her office (she's a nurse). With her it is 98-110/60-68......when I'm in the MW office (and I'm anxious or tired) it's 118-124/68-80. Once I actually had a panic attack while they were taking it and it read 140/80. The MW took it 10 minutes later and it was 124/68.....and I'm sure it was even lower within minutes of me leaving the office.

Her comment was that it's the lower number they focus on for warnings of pre-e, and that anything below 90 isn't going to get them "excited" based on the hormonal fluctuations at this point in pregnancy.

Hopefully that helps....it made me feel better!
