is that when they talk about "crowning" and the "ring of fire," they're not talking about the birth.

nope, they're talking about your first poop after the birth.

OH MY GOD.

Oh I'm sorry it was so traumatic! With DD#1 I remember it being hell, but this time I had a BM the day after labor and it was no big deal. I think all the alfalfa I've been taking helps, and also that my midwife supported my hemorrhoids during pushing (the baby. Not the poo. lol)

My first 'real' pp poo was at my IL's house.
I had to stiffle the cries. It was awful.

Glad you got through it though, !

update: i broke the toilet.

not kidding.

it's not just clogged. my partner plunged it for a solid 20 minutes and nothing is happening. we're waiting on a plumber and i think it will call for a snake.

Oh that sucks! I clog the toilet every time I poop these days and I haven't even HAD the baby yet. I better get something to loosen things up pronto.

I thought you only clogged the toilet before you went into labor?

You are sooo not alone!! My first was 5 days after DD was born. Since I didn't get to labor it actually turned out good for DH, he actually had to "coach" me through it. I tried the entire day to get it out, I danced around the bathroom crying for hours, tried a store bought enema, eventually went by L&D on the way to see DD in NICU and begged them to help me, they were so great, they gave me a real enema kit and some other things that were supposed to help "under the counter" so to speak, because they could see how much pain I was in. DH had to give me the enema this time and he held my hand as I sat on the toilet and "birthed" the thing. I'm sure the people in the ajoining hotel room thoughts something horrible was going on because it sounded just like a birth, "I can't, I can't" "push, push, push" Oh I love my hubby. We didn't flush it right away I think that is the only reason it didn't clog the toilet. I was too proud of myself to flush it Good god this probably sounds disgusting to read , but it is one of those things I will never forget and pray I won't have to repeat.

holy crap! (pun totally intended.)

oceanseve, that is awful.

i was home alone with the boy when it happened. i knew what was going on but not how long it would take to "pass," so i swaddled him tighttighttight and put him in the very center of our bed (he fell asleep almost immediately), and then i went to the bathroom with both doors open so i could see him on the bed.

it got so bad that i was sitting there wondering if i would have to call 911. what a horrible phone call and experience that would be. "hi, i'm here with my newborn and i've been on the toilet for 45 minutes and it feels as if there is a giant trying to exit my body via my rectum..."

Oh god oh god oh god......I remember that! I had a 3rd degree tear and stitches that were still healing. I had to support my perineum with a wad of tissue and I'm pretty sure I cried!

HORRIBLE!

Joanna - you hit the nail on the head! That is exactly how it feels!

pastry - oh I can't imagine how that had to hurt, it was hard enough with a c/s scar trying to heal, but with tears in that region, oh, makes me cringe thinking about it.

I also broke the toilet. I don't like remembering this. That was a LOT of poo. Painful poo.

Yeah, this is awful - and I'm sure your husband is a heck of lot more respectable - but I thought about Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown. I read somewhere that she was so constipated at one point, he pulled a piece of Ugh out of her tush.

[I have to use child-like words, if I think about this in actuality, its going to make me vomit.]

But really, give your husband a huge pat on the back from all of us. What a team player.

PP poo felt worse than pushing my son out (and tearing.)

This is killing me! Yet... it's SO NOT going to be funny when I'm going through it!!! Is there a laugh/cry smiley?

And a pillow to clutch and scream into. And Tucks pads. And a toilet plunger. And the phone number of a reputable plumber, just in case the plunger fails.

Well, not to ruin the party, but hopefully to give courage to a few, none of my first PP poos have been that bad. : I always seem to be somewhat on the soft side for a few days, and I've never had any bad tearing or anything--never anything that needed stitches, so there just wasn't much to it. The anticipation of it always sucks, but the reality hasn't been too bad for me. Hopefully, that will be the way it is for you Amity!

That's what I needed to hear! Thanks, Sarah!
