i have a giant bag of old tshirts in my garage... can i make wipes out of them? anyone done this before?

I have always used flannel for wipes... but gee, they are for poop and pee, I don't see why not. You will probably just have to serge or zig-zag over the cut edges so that they don't frey in the wash. I would suggest making them two layers thick, but I know other people who prefer one layer.

I cut up a bunch of old tshirts for wipes when I first started, they worked ok, you don't have to do anything to the edges, they don't unravel. I finally got tired of them and made some better ones out of hemp but they worked fine and were free

I love t-shirt wipes so much, I use them myself.
All you have to do is cut to the size you want- no sewing needed, it doesn't fray.
For baby wipes, I like about 6X112 inches, so I can fold it in half for poop-wiping.

I made diapers out of t-shirts and cut up the rest for wipes. They work great! I didn't hem them or anything. I got about 3-4 wipes out of the t-shirts after cutting the diaper out. They are not a perfect shape/size, but they serve their function.
