Sigh.

Friday night, nursing became hard on one side - incred painful nipples, and then shooting pains that go deep and into my back and arms.

So I started doing vinegar rinses, and up'd my acidophil intake. I dont have any GSE and havent been able to get out bc of the snow : but hope to today.

Now I think I have a vag yeast infection. Kind of all goes together...but, Im still bleeding, and every other time I've had a yeast infect near my period I have just let my body flush it out and not treated it.

Should I call and get some oral meds? Ive never had thrush before, but Im fairly convinced that is what it is...

What do you all do with thrush?? Suggestions for me?

I really need to get a few gallons of vinegar to start washing everything in...I'm scared to use my cloth pad or cloth breast pads now

Ugh. That stinks!

Do a thread search on here for thrush, Erica had a few of them and a lot of us chimed in with suggestions.

Oh, Kelli, so sorry to hear it. Ugh. We are battling thrush here, too.

I've been swabbing my nipples with a mixture of GSE and water (20 drops per ounce of water) and some vinegar after every nursing, and changing my breast pads at every nursing (filling the land fills... ugh). And taking probiotics.

We've been swabbing Conrad's tongue with Nystatin four times a day, after he nurses, and swabbing with GSE and water after the rest of his feeds (except at night, when we want him to sleep after his meal).

All this seemed to be working, but I have had a resurgence of pain and he has started getting white patches on his tongue again. Now I'm on a two week course of daily diflucan. I really think that the GSE is more effective on Conrad than the Nystatin, as long as it's done after the feeding (I had read to do it before, but that didn't seem to work in our case). And the GSE rinse with vinegar seems more effective on me than without.

If the thrush is in your ducts, then you might need the diflucan treatment. We got all our meds prescribed after I spoke with a lactation consultant, and she instructed me to call my gyn and Conrad's ped. She offered to talk with them if they needed more information, since she had actually seen us. If your medical provider had a lactation consultant in the mix, that might be a good place to start.

I also just got some gentian violet in the mail and am trying to get enthused about adding another protocol to the mix.

Good luck!
