Wake Up had her baby!

Thread Starter
Hannah (Wake_Up) had her baby boy, Sylvan, this morning. She asked me to give y'all the update.
She said she had a good but long homebirth, with about three hours in transition, but it sounds like she hung in there like a champ. The baby was just shy of eight pounds and apparently came out with a very functional set of lungs.
She and Kaleb are enjoying their babymoon and she said she'll be online soon to update everyone.
Congratulations, Hannah!

He's astounding!

It's been a couple days and nights, and I'm still amazed by this creature!

Sylvan was born at 9:40 on the 15th (Bill of Rights Day!) at 39 weeks, weighing 7lbs 12oz, 19.5 inches long, lots of brown hair, and his daddy's mouth. Seemed like it took FOREVER to get this baby out, but other than that, looking over the midwife's notes, labor and birth were pretty straightforward. Did have a 2nd degree tear that got 2 stitches, so that's been the main hurdle so far. I have to put in a big to the frozen witch hazel pads idea, they've saved my bottom!

He's nursing well now that my milk is in, and I'm feeling nearly whole again after being able to sleep a couple hours in a row, but still am very sore in every possible place a person can be sore. No amount of reading or MDC lurking can prepare a person for this stuff! I have absolutely no idea how a person could go through all that in a hospital, though - it seems so impossible. I feel very lucky to have been able to bring this little guy right into our home! Will post the full story in a couple days when I've mastered the art of nak How on earth do you do that?

Thanks for all the well-wishes and support!
