When Lachness has the sniffles...

Can I take something that will help thru the breast milk? Or something I can do for him?

Yesterday he was warm and not feeing too great. Last night and today the sniffles and still grumpy. Two of my kids also have the sniffles. Grrrrrr! We're a pretty healthy family, so this makes me grumpy as I've been even more vigilant about germies since his birth yet they're snuffling and coughing!

i'd hold him while in the bathroom w/ door closed and hot shower running (not IN the shower...) and let the humid steam comfort his system...and/or get a humidifier for the bedroom or wherever he mostly is... and/or maybe some vicks baby vapo rub or something similar? and also suction his nose...

sheamas has had slight sniffles...thankfully they dry up and nothing too major...but megh and i have been sick, plus i'm fighting some infection going on in my body so i'm not feeling so great yet... sigh.

if lachlan has fever i'd take him to pedi or at least call them and see what they say to do for him...newborn fevers are crucial to treat from what i've heard.

Exactly was Lis said (shower, suction, etc.) Hazel and Lucy are on their 2nd round of the sniffles and it SUX!

I think the shower is a great idea....or you could even take a bath with him. I believe Aura Cacia makes a little packet you throw in the bath with menthol to clear you out.

Sorry about the sniffles-- DS got his first cold at 1 week old I took him to the DR and the said only nose drops and suction were the only thing I could give unless he developed a fever (he didn't) but they never said what to do if he got a fever only to call the office.
We did the steam (which worked well) and used the suction (which I suck at-- no pun intended) I am always so scared I am going to suck his brain out or do damage to him. He is now 3 weeks old and still gets goopy in the mornings. You could try a humidifier
good luck-- Little babies getting sick sucks and just plain not fair!

Is there a link to where I could buy some?

Here

If you can find a frontier coop, you can get it much cheaper.

(I just got my order yesterday - order monthly...)

You can try saline in his nose too if it gets really bad. We've had to do that with Caleb.

As far as BM, just up your vits, esp. Vit. C and B complex. It'll get into the BM and he can get it that way

oooo i LOVE aura cacia stuff. i'll check that out. thanks for bringing that up nicole.

taymakcoop i know what you mean about suctioning...so far i have not done this w/ sheamas and i dread doing it...it sucks.

i used to have 2 boys in my childcare who used to get sooo mucousy from their noses...green thick icky stuff...and also they'd get ear infections...their mom would give me oils and such to give them throughout the days...it never seemed to keep them away or give them much relief or healing. it frustrated me for them. i now wonder if this could have been caused by the parents' pot smoking which was probably in their apartment? anyone know if this can effect little ones' sinuses? just curious. (no i'm NOT a pot smoker or a cig smoker) the boys at the time were about 1.5 yo and 3ish.
love,
lis

Thanks everyone! I'll look for the AC foaming bath.

Also I have read on MDC to shoot breastmilk up their nose - seriously!
