Nov DDC has until the end of december, so we shuold have until the end of January - thats not too much of a rush IMO.

I vote for another forum over a yahoo group, and would be happy to set something up or help set it up.

I have a hard time keeping up with Yahoo Groups, but that's mainly because I have desperate hate on for Yahoo and logging in through all their 'identify' BS always makes me too pissy to want to post anything. I could probably manage to get over this with medication and/or a swift kick in the head.

...on the other hand, if Google is now offering groups, that could be a good option as well.

I think it's a great idea to start another forum somewhere, as I too hate the really long long threads (except stinky)

The notice posted in November from Jac- q-k- ie Savage says December 17th. hopefully they petitioned for an extension or something.

I vote for a Yahoo Group, too. I wish we could stay on MOthering because I like the other forums, too (homeschooling, yarn crafts, breastfeeding, etc). I know though that once the DDC is gone, I won't be back nearly as often. I wonder what their motivation is for breaking my heart?

I think we need a poll to see just what people want/need. I'm reading that some people prefer a Yahoo group and some really want our own board. I have started a private board before and would be willing to do it again, but wouldn't want to leave anyone out (and it's a lot of work at the beginning, and being 41 wks pg, not sure if I should make a committment like that right now).

Thanks so much, starry_mama! I was in the midst of making a poll when the internet connection I was using crapped out and I couldn't get it to reconnect ALL. DAY. LONG. And I couldn't leave the house because I was waiting for the AT&T guy to come hook up our internet - which he never did :
