Flu Shot

Thread Starter
I have a client, due at the end of January, whose OB has recommended she gets the flu shot. She is hesitant about it and wants to research it first before she makes a decision. COuld any of you lead me to some links about the flu vaccine in pregnancy. I know I wouldnt have it, but personal is not what I want, I need some hard research or something similar, both sides of the argument are good.

Thank you so much

Some flu vax are still made with thimerisol. You can send her to the National Vaccine Information Center http://www.nvic.org/

flu shots....

The CDC recommends flu shots for pregnant women - they consider them high risk....BUT, if you read the package insert for the flu vaccine it says something like...."only if needed"......and most of them do have mercury.
I offer it to my clients, but I tell them I personally don't recommend it.

Only a few years ago, everyone recommended against flu shots in pregnant women. Recently the recommendation has been reversed. Personally this change in thought without evidence bothers me.

They are not supposed to give certain versions of the vax to pregnant women. Most of the vaxes given to pregnant women have mercury and other toxins. I don't have the link but the CDC has lists of the vax ingredients by manufacturer.

You may have better luck searching or cross posting on the vax board. I have seen this come up there before.
