Frustrated-bad prodromal labor story....update number 15 - Page 2

in addition to reading up on how to turn the baby, i'd have your partner read up on techniques for helping you relieve back labor pain during the birth. counterpressure and the double hip squeeze ESPECIALLY. most nurses and midwives are well-versed in both of these techniques, but they won't be around to do them over and over for hours, whereas your partner will be.

Glad you are feeling better and your plan sounds great. Rest and relax...you'll be holding that sweet baby soon.

I'm really glad you're feeling better, and it seems like you have a wonderfully sensible and compassionate midwife. It sounds like you have a good plan in place to make the last few days of pregnancy as easy and stress-free as possible--that's the best gift you can give to the baby and yourself. I did, however, see one glaring omission in your plan. There is no mention of you receiving copious amounts of foot massages, which I believe is vital to your mental health and the well-being of your unborn child. You can tell your DP I said so.

I think you have a fabulous plan! I'm really glad you're getting some decent rest and a break, because wow... all of this + no sleep and job stress is just way too much!

YES. I had nothing but back labor last time and the double hip squeezes and counterpressure were lifesaving for me. I don't know if you have a male partner or not, but it's worth finding the person with the largest hands and educating them on how to do it right... my DH was WORLDS better than my midwife at it, because his hands were twice the size of hers.

Also, can you swim? I know the health clubs in my area of town have coupons for "One Free Week" or whatever, which I'm seriously doing. And I know a lot of swimming/floating on your belly can help reposition posterior babies.
