Is Vaginal Swelling Normal?

I'm pg with baby #1 and am about 17 weeks along. I am generally heathy and no complications so far.

A few weeks ago I noticed swelling in the vaginal area (mostly around the vulva). I am not in any pain unless I try to have sex. No bleeding or other signs of complications.

I also have SPD (but the pain is in my outer hip/back, not the groin area). I haven't noticed any swelling elsewhere.

Is this normal? Could my SPD be causing this? Or could it be something else?

Could it be a varicose vein?

In my case, I've found it to be totally normal. I also deal with spd during pregnancy and have found that I swell in that area as well, though I don't know if the two are related. I would say not, since I know of others who have dealt with it without having spd. Mostly appears to be fluid retention and will disappear after the birth. May increase in discomfort until that time however (though doesn't get too bad).
