Are we pushing our kids too hard?

Hey everyone,

Anne here. I was thinking about the Christmas break and enjoying time at home with the kids as they get off from school. I'm somewhat glad my kids aren't as sad as this: upset high school kid who is writing about the massive amount of work she has over the break. Hm..

What does everyone think? Should we allow our kids a peaceful time during the holidays, or should they have to do lots of work to get ahead in this competitive world?

Peaceful time during the holidays. There's no point in having days off if you're bogged down with homwork! Maybe math sheets or a simple book report or something, just not too-stressful-FINISH THIS PROJECT OR ELSE work.

Wow...how strange! I clicked that link, and it was the school district I attended from K - 12th grade!

First of all- know that school district is know for its excellence and is in an area of the Bay Area in CA known for achievement, fast paced, money, influence, etc.

As that stands, I think the problem may be more complicated. They may see it as having that extra time before finals as giving students an edge- which in turn gives the school and grades an edge over the competition- which results in college edge....you get the drift.

But, bottom line- YES! Kids should get a break just like everyone else!

Isn't that the truth. Los Gatos is almost like the Beverly Hills of the Bay Area.
