gripe water?

i'm really considering this. i tried it with DS#1 when he was a couple mths old, but it bothers me for some reason to give anything but BM this early. mabel is very gassy and grunty, spitting up a lot...possibly reflux. i'm not eating any prob foods, i went thru that with ds...with a dairy allergy. so why am i worried about giving mabel gripe water??

i give this to sheamas on occasion and he seems to enjoy the taste and also it seems to give him some relief. he isn't so bad lately w/ gassiness but if he seems gassy, i give him this. he chokes easily so i have to do it in tiny increments...i also feel awful giving him anything but BM but since my BM doesn't give him relief from gassiness, this is ok w/ me. i think its pretty gentle on their systems too...

I've used it a couple of times when Django is inconsolable. I don't know if it really helps with gas. I'm not even sure he's crying about gas. I feel a little guilty, but I figure if a little sugar water helps him recover when he's screaming like that, I'll try it.

Besides, it totally arrests him mid-scream and he makes the cutest faces - like he's trying a fine wine. And then opens his mouth for more.

We used it with Dylan, but I'm not sure to what effect. Mylicon worked better for gas with him...

I feel silly because I hear about this all over the place recently but I have no idea what it is.... off to google it....

It made dd2 vomit every time I gave it to her. What finally worked the best was the liquid colic homeopathic remedy. Can't remember the name... Not Hylands, I don't think... Anyway, they come in individual little doses. Both the girls like them. Olorun is only 2 weeks old and hasn't had any problems yet, but I will definitely try the colic drops first if he does.

We use it here! It does seem to help somewhat. He loves the taste and will also stop mid scream to suck it down. He's terribly gassy...all ends.

Angela's been cranky and gassy for the last few days, and I think it has something to do with switching her from GoodStart to Enfamil.....She turns beet red and strains like the dickens to toot......We put her back on the GS, and she's a little less gassy, but still was awake all afternoon and part of the evening fussing and crying. Dad and me were at our wits' end, I called my mom at work and asked her to find either gripe water or mylicon and grab it. She finally fell asleep, but I just know she's going to start again when she wakes up....I learned my lesson, never switch formulas on this kid!! Hope she doesn't get gassy like this when I ween her onto BM fully (hopefully within a month, she's doing good with accepting the boob)
