I am going to order a few items from playmobil today. I'd like some people for my 3yo ds for him to play with and hopefully for some role playing. Help me pick!! I am deciding between the Family with Stroller or the 12 Assorted Figures.

Well, now that I am looking at these again I am definately leaning towards the family but for fun, what do you think and why?

While I'm at it, anyone have any other suggestions for a place to purchase these vs the Playmobil website? BTW, I need it for Christmas...

I'd go with the family if this is your first set, I think a few accessories give a bit more to build a story with.

The assorted people look like a nice addition to some existing sets.

I'd go with the family. Way more interesting (stroller, people, balloon, etc.) than the random figures.

DS (age 5) loves Playmobil and we have purchased quite a bit of it recently. I have purchased from www.ridgeroadstation.com and www.utoypia.com along with the Playmobil website. Looks like you can still get stuff from www.utoypia.com in time for Christmas (may need to do 2-day shipping depending on where you live - I live in a nearby state and have received stuff from them the day after I ordered!)

I've ordered from www.ridgeroadstation.com and was very pleased. They have pretty good prices.

Oh - another suggestion if you are open to other items. Since you son is only 3 and it looks like you have a younger toddler in the house you may want to consider Playmobil 1-2-3 items instead. They don't have any small parts. I bought many 1-2-3 items for DS when he was 3 and he only stopped playing with them recently. He loved them for quite a long time. The regular Playmobil is listed for ages 4 and up because of the small parts (for example, the balloon and camera that come with the family you are looking at). The 1-2-3 items are easier to manipulate for younger kids as well.

We have some small locally owned toy stores in my town that sell Playmobil. Our Target also sells some but their selection is not that great. We have the family set along with a ton of other Playmobil and they are a big hit with every single one of my kids, including the oldest boy! The Playmobil 1-2-3 might be a good option as well like one of the other posters suggested.

I got a better deal through uToypia.com than through the Playmobile site. I saved about $15.00 - THANKYOU!!

I ordered the family set I posted for my oldest and I ordered the 1-2-3 Family with cradle for my little guy. Thanks again!
