Baby noises...

Is there anything cuter?? All the little grunts and sighs are THE most adorable thing I have ever heard! Is it just me or is your newborn the neatest *sounding* thing you have ever heard??

She does this little huff while she eats, but it is so girl like, its the sweetest little moan I have ever heard, and then there are the 'stretching' grunts... she sounds like a tiny horse braying, it just cracks me up!

OK I'm crazy in love over here but really, the sounds of a new baby...

The moment I read your thread title my mind immediately finished the sentence with ".....are the cutest things in the world."

Definitely.

i like the little giggling thing she does in her REM sleep. and the squeaky panting when she's taking in a huge amount of milk. I even like the little fuss she makes when i switch breasts, her little protest is so sweet. It's like she's saying "I'm not done yet."

My two both laughed as they were falling off to sleep at the boob...ah, it was so awesome. Can hardly wait to hear those little snuffly sounds again, and that new baby smell...nothing beats that.

DH and I are madly in love with Olivia's little sounds, too. And we adored the sounds Isabel made when she was a Newbie.

And I think I just let down thinking about it ... <sigh>

You know, I've found those bulb syringes don't work so well (unless you are trying to make your kid cry, they are great for that). I think newborns do just sound like that...all snuffly and sweet. Some more than others. They usually sneeze if they have stuff that needs to come out.

my little one sounds really grunty and snuffly a lot of the time as well. oh.. and he snores these cute, amazing little munchkin wee snores. ohmigod I love him. it's insane. I pray I remember these moments when he's 15!

this will sound gross.

in cultures where there are nu bulb syringes, mothers place their mouth over baby's nose and orally suck out the snot.

i imagine at that point they spit it out somewhere, i doubt they eat it.

I never used the bulb with my 1st 3 kids, so since then I just don't bother anymore. If my kid couldn't breathe for snot, i would suck it out if i had to but honestly, I haven't had to yet. Usually, I press my finger into the side of their nostril and jiggle it (on the outside) and the boogie will move down on its own. if it's an overall stuffiness, a swipe of vicks on the top of my breast will allow them to nurse. A steamy bathroom helps a dry stuffiness. I have a genius friend who held a tin of altoids under my baby's nose while she slept to clear her stuffiness. I was so impressed.
