Tips for saving on groceries

My hubby likes to say that groceries is an area he will never compromise on. HE likes to eat well, but it has come to my attention that it is an area we could possibly save moeny in. We are pescatarians (sp). I usually get a few recipes out of cookbools weekly, and we eat almost all we get. oh and we get our veggies from a coop so we are never quite sure what we are getting until we get it.

Does anyone have ideas for a still yummy but lower weekly food menu... possibly one where he wouldn't notice we are saving money...

Or any tips would be appreciated. TIA

we spend betwen 500 and 600 (but i'm including toilet paper, cat/dog food, shampoo & toothpaste, etc. -- that's how i work the budget). i'm interested, too, i buy so much generic ... and do have areas i splurge in (organic milk, creamer & butter, for example). i'd love to go organic on meat next, but man ... the money crunch.

i've also just started regular chiropractic care and that's taking a lot of money that we normally don't spend. thank goodness new insurance in 2008 has my chiro in nextwork!

but back to food ... i too am interested in how folks keep their monthly food bills down.
