why is my heart racing?

I'm looking for ideas. I'm 4 weeks and a few days pg w/ #1. my first mw appt is thurs and I'll ask her about it then.. but in the mean time...

I took my BP at target and it was 120/77, which is lower than it usually is for me. I'm not on any BP meds but have been in pre-hypertension range for a year or so. I don't smoke, I eat pretty well.

My pulse was 110. I've felt like my heart was racing the past few days but just attributed it to the shock of finding out I'm pregnant.

Would you chalk it up to nerves, or is there another reason I should look at? any ideas on getting things to slow down?

It is normal for your blood pressure to drop in early pregnancy and then it will work its way back up to baseline in later pregnancy.

Do you feel your heart racing? I can give you a different perspective. I go to a very skilled homeopathist and I consulted with him when I was having some palpitation issues. He told me that anything having to do with the heart comes down to anxiety. I didn't really believe him completely, but I did eventually realize he was right. When my classes ended I didn't notice my heart skipping around. Even though I thought I had my anxiety under control or didn't think I was that stressed. Just something to think about.

It can also be hormone influenced and/or you have more blood rushing through you know and your circulatory system has to adjust.
