I wonder about my soon to be 7 year old, first grade daughter. I wonder what is in the realm of norm and what is cause for concern, and what I can do to help her.
She does many things backwards, she reads sounds backwards, she writes perfectly, backwards. Spelling her name from the right side of the paper to the left, and the letters face backwards too, so if you were to read in a mirror it'd make sense.
She is reading 3 letter words, thats about the extent of her reading, she's had many frustrations with it, and so we have gone slowly and steady.
She has been writing since she was 4, and reading/sounds since she was 4-5 years old. Writing from the left to the right is not a new concept to her, it's just one she has to really, really concentrate on to do, otherwise if its say her name, she just flies through it, backwards.
I just wonder if there is something to be concerned with, and if so, what would be my next step? I'm not familiar with this area at all. I know many things like writing some letters backwards are normal, I just wonder when it's not.
