:gloomy: My AIO doesn't work.

Mamas, please critique my AIO. I recognize that a lot of this is probably my fault, b/c I'm a very tactile learner and don't actually own any AIO's to copy from.

I made it the same way that I make fitted dipes. The pattern fits my dd's body well, the velcro is snug, and the elastic grips around her gigantic thighs. The rise looks pretty good--it falls just below her belly button. I have four layers of flannel in the soaker pad, and an inside layer of flannel. The outside is PUL. I did not sew casings around the leg elastics.

Should I add leg gussets? Bind around the leg openings with pul? Make the soaker pad thicker? Use something other than flannel?

Thanks!

Got a pic? Did you cut the PUL or fleece larger than the inner so the legs will turn in?

How long was it on the baby? 4 layers of flannel is not a lot....that would probably only last my son about 15 minutes. I would suggest adding a doubler. Also, did you wash and dry on hot to seal the PUL before you put it on your baby? What kind of thread did you use? It is important that use only 100% polyester thread - trust me, I found out the hard way.

Hmmm...I'll try to figure out how to add pictures.

Yes, I'm using polyester thread. But I did not cut the pul bigger, and I did not seal it in hot water. I'm going to try both of those suggestions now! I basically made a fitted diaper, with the outside layer out of pul.

Thanks...I'm feeling a little sheepish now...

Oh everyone makes diapers that are less than perfect when they start out. Soon you'll be an expert!

Well, it might be okay after you wash it as long as the inner rolls in! And hey, you're doing better than I did when I first made diapers!!!
