How many layels for fitted?

I'm about to embark on the Amazing Diaper Making Adventure with 3 flannel pillow cases, a 1 t-shirt-jersey material sheet set in hand. My question is, how many layers of flannel/t-shirt material would I need for a fitted diaper? 4? 8? Or should I put 6 layers, along with a sown in soaker pad made from a trifolded hand towel?
