Monarch dental insisted on covering

I was at the mall (NorthEast Mall in Hurst, Tx) and Noli was asking to BF. I didn't want to sit on the backless cushions in the middle of the corridor (I love to NIP but if there's a private spot I'll take it instead because it's just nicer to be in private with my tot) so I popped my head into the Monarch Dental and asked if I could please sit in their waiting room to nurse. The place was empty.

The receptionist said she'd have to ask whoever was above her. So this lady turns to me and says, "You want to nurse in here? Do you have a blanket?"

Uuuughghghhhhhh........

I looked at her funny and said, "Blanket? No, I don't have a blanket." (I had one in the stroller, but not to cover my kid's head in shame!!)

She said, "You're breastfeeding right? You can, but only if you're not exposed."

"Exposed?"

"Yeah, so if you have a blanket or a towel..."

"Ok, I'll just sit outside."

So with a smile I backed up and sat down on the stupid stools in the middle of the bustling mall. : You'd think a medical establishment would support breastfeeding.

The good news is, I spent some major quality nursing time with Noli, because I wanted to make sure they saw how wonderful it is to nurse your tot. I was all smiles, peekaboo's, coo-coo-ca-choo's. And Noli of course loved all the attention I was lavishing upon her. I was thinking, "This'll show them how beautiful this is, and how it is nothing to be ashamed of."

I've been trying to find an email to the manager to complain, but I haven't had any success.

You would think, but sadly there is so much ignorance in the medical community when it comes to breastfeeding. Sorry this happened to you, keep trying to get in touch with the manager. If your state has lawas protecting your right to bf, make sure you mention this.

They do have laws protecting my right to BF where I am otherwise authorized to be. Since I wasn't a patient- I just wanted to have a seat in their waiting room- I didn't raise much of a stink about it because they could have easily said, "This room is for patients only."

I am still trying to find a way to email the mgr. I'd call, but I kind of have a phone phobia. :

I came pretty close!! I sat on the stool about 10 yards outside the door. The place is all windows, so they couldn't help but see me, I'm sure.

Blech. How obnoxious.

I'll have to make that my nursing spot at NE Mall too.
