HI

Are there any homebirth mamas living in CT?

There is a support group in Portland, CT for homebirth families. It meets every third tuesday of the month at 7:00 pm in the Portland Public Library. The group has a large lending library as well as contact information for area midwives and backup doctors. All interested people can email me for more info.

"The culture of a society is made up of all the meanings that are so deeply inscribed into our everyday actions that we rarely question them. It is most evident in the great transitions of life: birth, puberty, marriage and death. Rediscovering Birth, by Sheila Kitzinger, www.sheilakitzinger.com.

Sheila Kitzinger is great reading for all who are interested in pregnancy and birth.

Happy homebirthing!!

It is so nice to hear that there are homebirthers in CT. I never met any . I just moved to VA from CT last year and had my fifth baby at home and it was incredible. Having a support group is a awesome idea. Good luck with it! Joyce

Hi there! I am very new to this but am longing to find a tribe!! I live in CT along the shoreline (but will be moving a bit inland, possibly Wallingford, within months) and have a 2 yr old son - homebirthed in NH (where we were living at the time) with the most awesome midwife in the world! We are trying to get pregnant a second time and want to plan on a homebirth from the get-go. I am finding out though that it is going to be tough to find a midwife to attend a homebirth in this state! Do you live in the Portland area? I would love to communicate with other moms/families that are "mothering" minded!!
