Healthy food gift ideas please.

My Dad and brother can be hard to buy for. I had the idea of putting together a basket of healthy foods, but need some ideas. Neither of them eat very healthy. I'm looking for some "gateway" foods to get them started.

So far I've thought of:
  • olive oil
  • fresh garlic
  • pesto
  • raw almonds or other nuts
  • maybe an assortment of dried beans/legumes in nice jars. (My brother does have a great chili recipe, might be good for him)
  • interesting fruit? starfruit, figs, pomello type things
  • honey?

And now I'm stuck.

I'd throw in some recipes too it anyone has some good ones that tie in with ingredients. Both my Mom and SIL have new bread makers for Christmas too... If this turns into more of a family type gift, that's ok.

Personally I'd do more ready to eat things. I'm doing food presents too. I'm doing some snack mixes (cereal/cracker things), some cookies, etc. You could do things like that to show them that healthy food can be tasty. If it's new and they have to cook it, it will probably end up not used (if they are like my dad, fil and brother).

Good point. Although my Mom and SIL like to cook so...

I did find some nice "snack" type dishes. I think I'll fill them with yummy stuff.

Any other ideas?
