Random, Unimportant Questions

1. What is up with those little triangle sleeping things for the baby? People keep giving me bags of baby clothes and these are inevitably in there.. they are multiplying like gremlins. Does anyone use these? Are they important at all?

2. Does anyone know how to make a denim ring sling soft? I got for a few bucks a really cool looking tie-dyed one and it is really stiff and icky. I've washed it a gazillion times. I wonder if it has hope.

I don't have nor have ever used any "sleep sacs" I think some ppl swear by them though. My babies would both have been way too hot in them, esp when they were in my bed next to me. I still just use a blanket.

I'm not sure about the sling. Is it cotton?

My impression is that sleep sacs are for babies who are put down and left in a crib. I'm told it is unsafe to leave a baby alone with a blanket, so parents who don't cosleep have to leave their baby uncovered. So, they made sleep sacs for those babies who don't have mama's body warmth and can't have a blanket.

I love those sleep sacs! They are great for middle of the night diaper changes because you don't have to try and get their little squirmy legs back into pants.

As far as the sling - do you have any sun? Hanging something in the sun will soften (and fade too) it.

Did you mean sleep sacks? Or the sleep positioners? http://www.amazon.com/Basic-Comfort-...176778&sr=1-24They keep baby sleeping on his back instead of rolling onto his stomach.

Oh! You mean like what "Sweet pea" wears on Popye?

OMG, We call our children "Baby in a bag" when they are wearing those as newborns.

We have even mused about how we are getting "Another baby in a bag for xmas." I dont know whats up with them. We got obsessed with them with our first ds because he was very handsome in one of them.

Ok, cause i am weird.

In that case, I did use a sleep positioner with ds 1. I dont remember being as concerned with sleep positioning with #2 though.

I know the health department and everyone else freaks out about it but I just dont feel in my gut that it is as big a deal as everyone says it is.

I trust my mama instincts.

Yeah, those sleep positioners (I didn't know what they were called!). They just seem strange to me. I guess if you stuffed the baby in a crib in a room by themselves they would be really important.... ???

I think sleep sacks are soooooooo cute

Thanks for the sun idea, I will give it a shot. That's one thing we've got plenty of around here.
