Well, technically one is not overdue until after 42 weeks, but I do know what you mean.

I am 41w3d.

I'm past my due date, too - 41w1d.

<--------------40 weeks 5 days

Oh the horror. My interventave MW is very anxious.

I feel like I am inconvenient because its the holidays.

But she can kiss it. This baby is FINE in there right now.

if we get to 42 weeks, then I will be concerned. I am trusting my instincts.

Howdy! 40+2 as well. I'm not worried about being over health-wise. But I am entirely miserable emotionally and physically and if baby doesn't come soon, I will literally have no help with 4 children, taking the dog out, anything. I just can't imagine taking the dog out in this weather 4 times a day minimum the day after I give birth and doing everything again. I really wanted a break with some help from dh. But if baby doesn't come soon, I won't get any. :

I have never gone over my due date before, so this was very unexpected.

I've never gone over my due date either and I'll be 41 weeks tomorrow. *sigh* It's stressful. I feel like my life is on hold. The plans I have made have all been cancelled and I don't know how or when I can make new ones...just have to wait and see when this little one arrives.

I go back for another NST in the morning and then to my chiro again. I'm considering whether or not I think I need an u/s to reassure me that he's okay...I don't know at what point the midwives would recommend it. I am worried that it's either his position or that he has cord issues (he's always been a roller) that are keeping things from going. I thought for sure the chiro adjustment would get things rolling, but it hasn't worked. :

I'm not dealing with this well and I worry way too much. What are you ladies doing to maintain your peace?

I am getting nervous about all the work of a bunch of kids...You have WAY more (kids, dogs, challenges) than me-but I just know what you are feeling right now.

Christa-Are you at a birth center or a hospital?

I am so sorry you are going through all of this turmoil!!!

Why are you so worries about the baby?

I say trust your instincts-EVERY TIME. It wont fail you.

Actually, I'm a homebirther with a CNM (which I think is pretty rare). I'm a worrier by nature and I think with the stress of everything right now, plus this "unexpected" blessing, plus going over my EDD (when I didn't with the other 2 and am sure of the conception date) is just adding up to "something must be wrong" in my mind. At this point, I don't know which is intuition and which is just needless anxiety...how do you tell the difference?

I was 41 weeks with my 2nd so this isn't unexpected. I think knowing that 42 is normal helps a lot. It also helps that my in-laws aren't here breathing down my neck asking me when she's going to get here.
I am also having the easiest pg so far of the three so that of course makes a big difference. Hang in there, Mamas. It's all going to work out.

Well, after a nap, I've decided that I'm going to go ahead and request an u/s tomorrow. Fortuneately, the provider my midwives use is on my insurance (I was thinking I might have to pay out of pocket) and I'll be in town anyway (it's an hour drive...10 a.m. midwife appt for NST, then appt at chiro across town, and the u/s clinic is next door to the chiro)

I think I'll feel better after and it's kinda the only chance to do it before the holiday. I still haven't decided on the stripping membranes. I'm kinda reluctant to do that for some reason, but not nearly as resistant as I am to castor oil. I want to stay far far away from that stuff.

I have a question. At some point, if this kid isn't out, I'm in enough pain I'm considering more natural options. As in, I swore I'd never go the castor oil route, but sitting on the toilet for a day is sounding pretty good.

Does anyone know if using castor oil externally (castor oil pak on lower back) is safer than internal? I read one small snippet that it doesn't cause the bad GI issues to do it this way, but can give a boost to labor that just won't keep going like mine seems to be doing.

But dh has told me that if I go to 42 weeks, I AM going to the hospital, which is not preferred, and if I don't have baby soon, let's just say that I'm in pain, and I will have to walk the dog whilst in labor.

Anyone else's kid not moving as much? We have a seriously quiet child here. She always moves when I think about it, or move around like getting off the couch, but I remember being told they do this right before labor. She's been like this for about 2 days. Active enough and responsive enough a NST wouldn't be worth my time, but a lot less flailing than usual.

mine isnt moving as much.

Its really squished.

Maybe it will initiate labor because the baby feels uncomfortable. :mischef

Have you gone through all the other options for induction? (Like on gentlebirth.org) Thats my fave list.

me too!

I am 41 weeks and one day. I am trying to be patient but I keep hoping labor is about to start!

Well, I don't want to push too much. I basically just want to give a hand if my body is already doing it.

I have eaten 3 pineapples.
I've been taking EPO and RRL tea for weeks.
LOTS of sex.
Walking around like a mad woman (NOT easy with my PSD and hip issues).
Nipple stimulation-tried every night for 4 days. I contract easily, but they don't continue and my nipples are raw.
Spicy food.
Acupressure.
Baths and a small glass of wine.

NOTHING is working.

I might try some homeopathic black or blue cohosh or whatever, but that's also a last resort. I really don't want to try castor oil, and I would only take it internally as a last resort past 42 weeks. I know my EDD is not off by more than a couple of days. I was charting.

I induced at 10 days past 40 with my dd. With cohosh. I belive it is actually the BLUE that induces labor. (The black is for something else-I think)

It was very pleasent, and I will do it again if need be. I had a lovley labor and delivery. No complications, it was nice.

I would do my research though, because I had a midwife telling me exactly what to do, how much to take, etc.

I would want to be really well informed if I was doing it to myself. kwim?

I dont know what the side effects are or what can go wrong.

Yeah, I wouldn't take the cohosh outright, but I've heard the homeopathic stuff is a bit gentler and I have a midwifery text that talks a bit about it.
