I lent my copy of TCOYF to a friend. My cycles have been a bit whacked since DD, due to breastfeeding most likely. However, I am also concerned about early menopause/perimenopause (mom and grandma were in complete menopause before the age of 40, their periods just stopped - I am currently 32). I have been ovulating right around day 18 pretty consistantly. One month when I had a couple of nights out, away from DD I actually ovulated on day 14 like i used to! Last month I didn't ovulate until day 24, but I chalked it up to DD nursing again in the middle of the night (we had just moved her from a crib where she had been since 7 months old to a big girl bed, she needed extra num nums to deal with the transition). Well, this month I was sick with fever around days 16,17 and 18, and now I am at day 23, and still no ovulation! I keep getting patches of fertile CM interspersed with sticky. Would being sick push back ovulation this far? I don't think it is due to bfing, because now DD is nursing a bit less because we have been too busy in the mornings for our normal session before daycare. How long will illness push back your ovulation date?
We are hoping to TTC next summer, and we plan to use the Shettles method to push our odds in favor of a boy so I am really trying to figure out what my "normal" pattern is. I am worried about these long weird cycles are a sign of perimenopause, or that they will affect my ability to conceive.
