palm shortening or conventional butter?

Yet another of my which-would-be-better threads...sorry :
I'm trying to figure out whether it would be better to give DD palm shortening or conventional butter. (She'll eat palm shortening off a spoon so getting it into her isn't a problem.) She does eat a fair amount of pastured butter but I can only afford so much of it a month and the rest of her fats have to come from somewhere else. I've been sort of rationing the fats so she only gets the pastured butter and a bit of palm shortening, but I've decided it would be better to give her unlimited fats.

Which of these two would you pick? (Please don't suggest alternative choices, she has food chemical sensitivities and can't have CO, EVOO, lard, or beef tallow).

I'm not sure I'd do either. Why does she need fat served to her on a spoon? Sorry if you've gone through that already. I guess I'd just say feed her real food and a balanced diet and the fats will come naturally. (Sorry if I'm missing something. I am not really good at remembering old posts. )

of the two i would go with the palm shortening. even though the palm shortening is refined, at least it doesn't have hormones and whatever yucko chemicals that are going to be in conventional butter, kwim? those chemicals tend to be in higher concentrations in the fat...

I'd go with palm shortening over conventional butter as well.
