What are you guys doing to care for it

with my first I was told to use alcohol ( stayed on for 4 weeks) w/ my second hospital said do nothing but ped said to really dig in there w/ a q tip and alcohol

so Im not sure what to do this time I used alcohol a few times cuz it was stinky ( but no redness or sign of infection) so should I do nothing or use soomething on it, what are you guys using

Using alchol is now disproven to quicken healing. Just use nothing or a little breastmilk if it looks icky.

I'm not planning on using anything...just keeping it dry.

I used alcohol maybe a couple of times but mostly did nothing. It fell off on day four. I've heard goldenseal is good, but then you have to deal with the smell.

with my dd#1 they said to use alcohol- it was on for over 2 wks

with #2 I UC'd accidentally, and used alcohol because that's what I was used to- it was on for over 2 wks

with #3 I heard people weren't using alcohol any more, so I didn't nd it styed on for over 2 wks

with #4 and #5 i hadn't herd anything new so i didn't do anything new and they both stayerd on for over 2 wks

with this baby, I opened up a capsule of goldenseal and sprinkled a little on the base of the stump after 24 hours (because I forgot to do it sooner) and it fell off on her third day. then we took a bath.

i totally vote for goldenseal. i didn't smell anything at all, and one capsule was like about 6 applications which was all i needed. now what do i do with it?

We've been just leaving it alone - hospital said alcohol, but like Leah said, current info says not to use it. I'll use breast milk if it looks like it needs something.
