Books about the emotions of girls

Hello!

I had a guy friend ask me if I knew of any books that explain the stages and emotions girls go through...I know there has to be something out there but I have little boys so I'm not sure at this point

"Reviving Ophelia" comes to mind. It has to do with how society tends to squash girls' natural desire to evolve and grow as people, how they are shortchanged by society, and the emotions that result from that kind of oppression. I wish I could tell you more, but its been years since I read it. I think that might be a good place to start.
